Goodyear named championship tyre partner
A hard compound control slick and a wet for every car in the Trophy, with slicks capped at six sets a season.
Goodyear joins the MX-5 Mk4 Trophy as championship tyre partner, supplying a hard compound control slick for every car in the Trophy.
A one make championship only works if the tyre is the same for everyone. A single supplier across the season removes the one variable that quietly decides results in series where teams can shop around. Every driver in the Trophy will race the same compound, available at every round.
It also sets the Trophy apart on track. Running on the BRSCC MX-5 SuperCup grid in 2027, the Trophy's Mk4 cars have their own tyre as well as their own specification, and are scored as a separate championship from the SuperCup's Mk3 field.
Slicks are controlled to six sets for the season. That is a deliberate cap: it holds the cost of a campaign down, and it turns tyre management into a genuine part of the championship rather than a line in the budget. Deciding when to open a new set is a decision with consequences.
A Goodyear wet is available alongside it. Nobody should be gambling a dry set on a damp qualifying session, and a British season makes that a question worth answering in advance.
